1. The most popular Pom
A 6" pom with Baton handle and 3/4" strands is the best seller within cheerleading.
A pom will fluff to twice the stated size i.e. 6" will become 12" diameter (about the size of a football) Poms are available in smaller and larger sizes from 4" for faster routines or smaller children to 10" for dramatic stage events. There is also a choice of handles, again small or with elastic wrist band small children to guarded handles to allow twists and difficult movements.
2. Colours and Mixes
Your choice seems endless, but for example, if you perform under bright lights then Metallic will give brilliant reflection. Plastic is good for open air being seen easily against natural backgrounds. Mix material and colours to match your uniforms.
Take a look through squad websites to see different poms in action and help you decide.
3. Pom Care
Poms need looking after. Keep them dry and out of sunlight. Store them in a ventilated bag to avoid odours. They may be washed in mild detergent and warm water and hung to dry. Do not pick or pull strands and always hold by the handle.
Gently re-fluff to maintain the shape.
